Warm Up Your Winter Table

Warm Up Your Winter Table

Reflecting winter as a warm and cozy season can be a bit difficult as winter tends to be bare, bleak and gray.  I actually adore winter and the gray days because I love pots of soup simmering on the stove or in my crockpot for dinner, the fireplace turned on and cups of hot tea all day long.

Transforming your table so that it feels warm and cozy for gatherings can be a bit challenging.  By using some simple yet effective decor elements, you are able to create a welcoming and warm table.  Here are some simple tips to help you and your guests snuggle up to your winter table.

1. Embrace Seasonal Colors

Prepare your table decor with the rich and warm colors of winter. Deep greens, burgundies, warm browns, and golds can add a touch of warmth to your table.  Consider incorporating elements like plaids, twig placemats, and other natural elements or centerpieces to reinforce a winter, woodsy feel.

2. Layer Textures

Add depth and visual interest to your table decor by layering with different textures. Mix and match materials like wood, metal, greenery and fabric to create an inviting table      scape. Let me give you some examples of layers:  Use a plaid wool throw over a textured tablecloth, twig placemats, wood chargers, greenery chargers, pinecones sprinkled down the center of the table, and delicate etched crystal goblets!  All of these items are examples of different textures all blending together to bring your winter table to life.

3. Incorporate Candlelight

There's nothing quite like the warm glow of candles to create a cozy and intimate ambiance on your table. Consider adding candles of varying heights and shapes to your table decor, keeping your color scheme in mind.  Adding small tea lights to each place setting is a favorite of mine as it brings the glow of the table to each and every person around the table. Look for sales on candles all year long so that you aren't pulling your hair out trying to find exactly what you need.

4.  Bring Nature Indoors

The beauty of the winter season can be shown by incorporating natural elements onto your table. Pinecones, branches, and berries can all add a natural charm to your dining table. Consider creating a simple yet elegant centerpiece using seasonal greenery and candles ~ softly beautiful and unforgettable.

5. Personalize Your Place Settings

Add a personal touch to your table by incorporating personalized place settings for each guest. Consider adding place cards, small take home favors, or handwritten notes to make each guest feel special and appreciated. Personalized touches make your table and gathering meaningful and a lasting memory.

I hope these suggestions give you some inspiration for warming up your winter table and gatherings.  Embrace winter's colors, layer with textures, incorporate lots of candlelight, bring nature indoors, and personalize your place settings to cozy up your dining experience!

Enjoy this season and the opportunity it offers to bring friends and family together around your table and create unforgettable memories!

Warmly,

Lisa
